In their project "umwege" the dancer/choreographer Anna Huber and the percussionist/composer Fritz Hauser develop different site-specific movement and sound sketches in a dialogue and encounter with unusual spaces. The most fleeting arts meet the most permanent art form. Internal body architecture is placed in relation to the structure and material of concrete space. Sounds discover the space, create imaginary perspectives, rebound and vanish.
The project is developed continually in different locations and a new "umweg" (detour) is sketched for each new space. In our memory a kind of sketchbook is created in which the relationship between human presence and movement, the immateriality of sound and light is investigated in spaces created for the long-term with a specific purpose. In the process, conventions and apparent common knowledge about our relationship to the space that surrounds us are put into question. The research lives from contrasts such as moving - fixed, sound - silence, organic - geometric forms, grown - built structures, inside - outside, labile - stabile, fragile - strong, flowing - solid, elaborate - compact."…struck by weak daylight the formless thing stands up and takes shape. A delicate being. Half shadow, half Giacometti figurine, sometimes like a beetle drawn by a child´s hand, sometimes like a series of Chinese symbols, the strange appearance slowly advances towards the public. The closer she gets the more plastic, reachable and human she becomes, until finally Anna Huber stands in front of us. "beizeiten" is what the dancer calls her subtle, highly aesthetic movement sketches developed with the percussionist Fritz Hauser and presented in the early morning like a dream."
